A single sensor hand biometric multimodal system

چکیده
Nowadays the question of identifying a person assumes a major role in many applications. To circumvent the limitations of traditional identity recognition mechanisms (e.g., passwords or ID cards), modern security control procedures often exploit people biometrics. This paper proposes a multimodal biometric system for personal recognition, based on three different biometrics computed from the same hand image. Features extracted from each of the five finger surface areas are fused at score level into a single biometric mode. Hand geometry, palmprint and finger surface biometric features are finally fused at decision level to come to a recognition decision. The achieved recognition results of FAR=0.31%, FRR=0.80% and a maximum recognition rate of 98.28% indicate that this work should be continued and might be considered for high security applications.

Personal Recognition Using Single-Sensor Multimodal Hand Biometrics
Single-sensor approaches to multimodal biometric authentication targeting the human hand in multiple-matcher scenarios provide higher security in terms of accuracy and resistance to biometric system attacks than unimodal systems. This paper introduces a novel multimodal hand biometric system using palmar images acquired by a commercially available flatbed scanner. Hence, the presented approach ...

103 Abstract— In present days, biometric based security systems achieved more attention due to incessant terrorism threats around the world. on the other hand, a security system comprised of a single form of biometric information cannot fulfill users' expectations and may suffer from noisy sensor data, and inter class variations and continuous spoof attacks. To overcome some of these problems, ...
متن کاملTechnical Review of Multi Model Biometrics System
Biometrics refers to automatic recognition of individuals based on their physiological and/or behavioral characteristics. Unimodal biometric systems allow person recognition based on a single source of biometric information but cannot guaranty a perfect identification. Such systems are sensitive to noisy sensor data, non-universality and lack of individuality of the chosen biometric trait, and ...
متن کاملA Single Sensor Hand Geometry and Palm Texture Fusion for Person Identification
This paper proposes a bimodal biometric system for person identification using two traits, hand geometry and palm texture. The proposed system use complete hand images to find hand geometry and palm texture features. Unlike other multimodal biometric systems, the user does not have to undergo the inconvenience of using two different sensors as two biometrics can be taken from the same image. Pa...
متن کاملLevel of Fusion in Multimodal Biometrics: a Review
User verification systems that use a single biometric indicator often have to contend with noisy sensor data, restricted degree of freedom, non-universality of the biometric trait and unacceptable error rates. So the need of using multimodal biometric system occurred. A multimodal biometric system combines the different biometric traits and provides better recognition performance as compared to...
